Constitution v1.0
We, all participants of Semo.
We adopt this Constitution as our shared compass for co-creating an open, regenerative economic network. Guided by collective intelligence, we commit to evolve Semo together for the benefit of present and future life.
Vision
We envision an open global economy where every transaction enriches people in relation to one another and our shared environment.
Purpose
To provide tools, culture and governance that enable anyone to measure, reward and exchange value in ways that regenerate ecosystems, uplift society and build shared prosperity.
Foundations
Seven values and principles.
- Openness. Voluntary participation, transparency, and inclusive collective decisions.
- Holistic abundance. Thriving through regenerative participation that benefits all life.
- Reciprocity. Relationships and protocols distributing mutually complementary value to all.
- Purified freedom. Collective decisions that create systemic direction yet impose nothing.
- Integrity. Being and acting from intuition and authentic coherence with who we truly are.
- Adaptability. Protocols designed to evolve organically with changing circumstances.
- Reliability. Growing trust in each other, the life around us, and our shared future.
What we commit to
Community commitments.
We each commit to:
- Participate with curiosity and respect.
- Share knowledge and code openly.
- Reward and celebrate regenerative contributions.
- Help resolve conflicts restoratively.
- Continually explore, learn, prototype and improve our systems.
- Design for growth to pursue the vision at scale.
- Act as good future ancestors.
Governance
Rights and responsibilities.
Every verified human has the right to one account to propose, discuss and vote on matters that affect Semo. Every human and entity with curation access to Semo promises to:
- Ensure accessible insight regarding any change to Semo for anyone anywhere.
- Ensure that each change to Semo signals acceptance of this Constitution.
- Ensure that, if any clause is found unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
- Develop decentralised, collective governance to make their steward-role irrelevant.
- Develop Semo towards a regenerative and equitable economy.
- Embody that traditional resources and revenue streams with all their imperfections are used to grow Semo into a growing self-sustaining system effectively.
- Enable private financial gain from the network to arise only from transparent, rule-based flows adopted by or with agreement of the community.
- Focus initially on underprivileged people regarding adoption of the Semo economy.
- Drop all rights to make changes to Semo as soon as the other promises are fulfilled.
Changing the Constitution is only possible through a voting process involving one vote for each account holder. Anyone with curation access to Semo can be outvoted from curation access.
Funding & capital stewardship
Money flows in. It does not capture.
- Purpose. Accepting grants, redeemable capital, or other non-extractive instruments to bootstrap development and mission-aligned growth.
- Capital contributions confer no special voting rights and no veto powers.
- All capital agreements, flows, and balances are disclosed via public accounting.
- Any financial return must be (a) capped, (b) paid only from designated surplus, and (c) never compromise core services and contributor rewards.
- Voice tokens remain distinct from and unrelated to any capital inflow.
